3-year graduates have had to go through the tough ordeal of paying for an extra year to do Masters in India just to be eligible for a Masters Program in the US. Not anymore! Illinois Tech has now incorporated the advice of World Education Services (WES) to enroll 3-year graduates to their Masters Programs.
The eligibility of 3-year degree holders to apply for their Masters in the US along with 4-year graduates brings much relief to many students. This saves a lot of time and money for the 3-year graduates, who otherwise had to study an extra year after their graduation in India to meet the eligibility criteria of having a 4-year degree. Illinois Institute of Technology gladly embraces this advice and is happy to welcome 3-year graduates from Science, Arts and Commerce backgrounds to their Masters Programs.
To eliminate the possibility of discrimination based on degrees, candidates from both backgrounds will be enrolled to the same courses and will also be attending the same classes. With our guidance and training, Illinois Tech is confident that the 3-year graduates and 4-year graduates will be on par with each other and to ensure there is no discrimination in job opportunities, they will also receive the same degree on completion of the course .

Professors Jafar Saniie, Tricha Anjali, and Erdal Oruklu are creating cyber-enabled, hands-on lab environments for undergraduate computer engineering courses with funding provided by the National Science Foundation. As a pilot effort, the remotely connect…ed students will be paired with at least one onsite student. The students will collaborate on lab assignments using two-way video cameras, microphones, and speakers to make the remotely connected students feel fully immersed in the lab. The team will be required to communicate and interact as if all members were in the same room—emulating the relationship professional engineers often experience when collaborating on international teams. “The reality of global engineering is that it is no longer necessary to be in the same room to solve problems and work as a team,” Saniie says. “Every day, teams of engineers located in laboratories from across the world collaborate to fix a piece of technology in an entirely different country. This is what Sumanth has to say…
“My friends and colleagues had given me a positive feedback on the US graduate school experience.
It was touted as superior to the rote-learning based system i had experienced. The IIT Chicago experience
more than met my expectations.
A full time graduate school experience is a wholesome experience that provides a holistic education.
Although this cannot be fully replicated in a part time or distance education course.
However, among all the distance education courses available, the one from IIT Chicago ranks as one of
the very best. The lectures, assignments, projects and exams are no different than what they are for
the in-campus students. TAs are prompt in answering questions. Unlike in some Indian schools, we cannot
postpone studies till the 11th hour. One needs to stay on top of the studies all the time.
The hard juggling between studies, projects and my full time job taught a lot.
There’s considerable flexibility built in the system. The choices of courses is good and getting
broader each year. The local IIT Chicago office is very cooperative and prompt.
I have done some very challenging and exciting courses through this Program. Most of the courses
have direct relevance to my job and my employer appreciates this a lot. Here’s wishing the current and
future students best of luck!”
